Julia Bott

Julia is Consultant Physiotherapist, Surrey, UK and a Visiting Fellow at the University of Surrey. She is President of the UK Association of Chartered Physiotherapists in Respiratory Care (ACPRC) and Chair of the ERS Physiotherapy Group. She is currently producing British Thoracic Society (BTS)/ACPRC Guidelines on Respiratory Physiotherapy and contributed to BTS Guidelines on Home Care in COPD (Thorax 2006), ERS 'Recommendations for Physiotherapy in the Critically ill adult patient' (intensive Care Medicine 2008), and a consensus document for Community Pulmonary Rehabilitation (PR). She has represented respiratory Physiotherapy at the UK Department of Health on several initiatives, including the new National Service Framework for COPD. Julia is co-author of the British Lung Foundation exercise diary for PR and a booklet on breathing techniques in COPD. Julia lectures on cardio-respiratory topics both nationally and internationally and has published extensively on a variety of subjects. Most notably, her research on NIV helped change clinical practice. She is a reviewer for a number of internationally renowned journals and is first author of chapters in well-respected textbooks.
